BREAKING: Kidnapped Students and Staff of Turkish College Regain Freedom

After nearly two weeks of their abduction, 5 students and 3 members of staff at the Nigerian Turkish International College in Isheri, Ogun state, have regained their freedom.

The students and employees of the Turkish college including a Turkish national were kidnapped by gunmen on Friday, January 13.

According to the Punch, the kidnappers accessed the school by digging a hole under the fence and immediately made for the female hostel while shooting indiscriminately.

Efforts to rescue the abducted persons had proved abortive notwithstanding the arrest of the alleged masterminds of the invasion and kidnap.

It is yet to be ascertained if the families of the victims parted with money to ensure their release.

Spokesman for the Ogun police command, Abimbola Oyeyemi while confirming that 5 students and 3 employees of the Turkish college were released around 5pm on Tuesday, maintained that no ransom was paid.

Oyeyemi said the kidnappers were forced to release their victims after facing much pressure from the police.

Spokesperson for the Turkish college, Cemal Yigit while confirming that the released persons had been reunited with their families also refused to speak about whether or not ransom was paid to ensure their freedom.
