Celebrating The Reappointment Of Isa Gusau: A Luminary In Modern Public Relations by Abdulkareem Haruna

The wisdom in Aristotle’s words is evident in the extraordinary career of Malam Isa Gusau, the prodigious public relations expert and media strategist who has been reappointed by Governor Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno State for a second term.

With an impressive educational background and professional experience, Gusau is a testament to the power of dedication, hard work, and continuous learning.

As Plato once said, “The direction in which education starts a man will determine his future in life.” Gusau’s educational journey began with his undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in Public Relations from Middlesex University and the University of Leicester, both in the United Kingdom.

He furthered his knowledge with additional degrees in Industrial and Labour Relations from the University of Maiduguri. This was after obtaining his OND and HND in Mass Communication from Kaduna Polytechnic. Moreover, Gusau holds certificates from esteemed institutions such as Harvard University, the University of Cambridge, and Thompson Reuters in New York.

His memberships in prestigious organizations like the Chartered Institute of Public Relations, UK; the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations; the Public Relations and Communications Association, PRCA, UK; the International Public Relations Association, UK; and the African Public Relations Association, reflect his commitment to the field and his passion for connecting with professionals worldwide.

Gusau’s accomplishments extend beyond academia. He has attended numerous conferences, summits, and bilateral meetings across 18 countries in Europe, Asia, and Africa, as well as 16 states in the United States.

As a journalist for Daily Trust, he received accolades for his integrity and performance, leading to accelerated promotions and the eventual transition to public relations.

Gusau’s dedication to mentoring and uplifting the next generation is evident in his work with more than 300 Borno youths. A man of many talents, Gusau is also a retired football player, coach, table tennis enthusiast, and track runner. His commitment to personal growth extends beyond his professional life, as he has memorized many portions of the Qur’an and values his roles as a husband and father.
