Centre For Crisis Communications Management Visit Naval Headquarters

The Chairman and Board Members of the Centre for Crisis Communications Abuja, paid a courtesy visit to the Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla at Naval Headquarters on Thursday 18 July 2024.

The Chairman of the Centre, Major General Chris Olukolade (Rtd) stated that as a Non- Governmental Organisation, the purpose of the visit was to collaborate and partner with the Nigerian Navy (NN) to address concerns in the area of prevention and management of misinformation and information crisis.

The Chairman further stated that the Centre has in the past trained about 500 information personnel across the services. Additionally, they have maintained the media review and interaction with both the Media and information officers to keep them abreast with the current dynamics in information management.

In response, the CNS who was represented by the Chief of Policy and Plans, Rear Admiral Joseph Akpan appreciated the team for the visit as well as their efforts in the management of information crisis.

The CNS rep also suggested that the Centre could do more to inform the public on the activities and operations of the Armed Forces, particularly the Navy. He further, stated that the NN is already working on a compendium which would document events and experiences of the past CNS for the purpose of posterity.

Present during the visit were Principal Staff officers and Directors at the Naval Headquarters.
