
CGC Adeniyi Honored as Global Diplomatic Peace Ambassador for Humanitarian Impact
The Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, on Friday 7 March 2025, was honoured as a Global Diplomatic Peace Ambassador in recognition of his leadership and contributions to humanitarian causes.
The decoration ceremony, which took place at the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS)’ Headquarters in Maitama, Abuja, saw 15 distinguished individuals inducted into the Global Diplomatic Peace Ambassadors circle.
Speaking at the event, the CGC expressed deep appreciation for the honour, describing it as a call to further commitment in serving humanity.
He highlighted the alignment between the Global Diplomatic Peace Ambassadors’ mission and the Nigeria Customs Service’s Corporate Social Responsibility initiative, Customs Cares, which focuses on education, healthcare, poverty alleviation, and youth empowerment.
“We share a common purpose, making life better for humanity. Customs is committed to supporting initiatives that promote social welfare, and through ‘Customs Cares’, we are investing in education, clean water, healthcare, job creation, and ICT development. This partnership is a step towards achieving these goals.” CGC Adeniyi said.
He further assured that the NCS would facilitate the smooth entry of humanitarian aid and donations into Nigeria, ensuring compliance with customs regulations.
He acknowledged the challenges often faced by donors in shipping relief materials and pledged that the Service would work closely with the Global Diplomatic Peace Ambassadors to ensure seamless clearance and distribution.
Leading the delegation, the President of the Global Diplomatic Peace Ambassadors, José Rodriguez, commended the CGC and other honourees for their dedication to peacebuilding and humanitarian efforts.
He highlighted the organisation’s ongoing initiatives, including the Face Me Project, the OJF Humanitarian Project, and the Heart Me Project, which focus on providing economic support, social welfare, and humanitarian assistance.
José stated, “We are currently running three major campaigns that focus on humanitarian aid, economic empowerment, and social welfare. These projects are detailed on our website, showcasing our impact.”
“Recently, we launched an initiative in partnership with the Nigeria Customs Service to support entrepreneurs and SMEs while promoting faith in Nigerian products. This collaboration aligns perfectly with our mission.” Rodriguez stated.
The ceremony was attended by top management officers of the NCS, including Deputy Comptrollers-General, Assistant Comptrollers-General, who expressed their readiness to support the partnership between the Service and the Global Diplomatic Peace Ambassadors.
