Chairman NDLEA Pledges Patronage For DICON, Commends DG’s Strategic Stride
The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Brigadier General Mohammed Buba Marwa has pledged to patronise the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON) in the areas of Training for armourers and purchase of ammunitions among others.
The Chaiman made the remarks when the Director General (DG) Major General Babatunde Ibrahim Alaya paid him a courtesy visit at the Agency’s Headquarters in Abuja adding that DICON remains a strategic partner that could compliment the ongoing fight against drugs abuse in the Country.
General Marwa further commended the DG for his ingenious stride through strategic partnership and collaboration which was capable of propelling the prospect of DICON to match its counterparts in India and Brazil.
In his response, the DG DICON commended the Chairman NDLEA for sustaining the tempo in the fight against drug abuse in Nigeria stating that all crimes had a direct or indirect link with drugs while appreciating him for the willingness to patronise DICON products.
General Alaya asserted that the signing of the DICON Act 2023 by the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces President Bola Ahmed Tinubu gave the Corporation the prospect of becoming the Hub of Military Industrial Complex as evident in multiple strategic partnership the corporation was engaging with defence related private sectors.
The DG further assured the Chairman NDLEA that in the next few months, no defence Institution in Nigeria would have to import ammunition for the execution of its mandate. He added that the commitment and sincerity of the Corporation’s leadership had convinced the private sector to show interest in collaborating with DICON through the provision of the defence needs for the Armed Forces of Nigeria and other para-military agencies.
“Very soon, Nigerians would be proud of DICON with a substantive number of committed partners with this critical national institution” General Alaya reiterated.
Highlights of the visit were strategic discussion, signing of the visitors’ book, and a guided tour of the Agency.
