
Change Of Command As Brig. Gen. CM Akaliro Assumes Command Of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army
Brigadier General Chukwuemeka Micheal Akaliro has formally assumed command as the 5th Commander of 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army (NA), and Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS). The change of command took place during a colourful ceremony at the Headquarters of 6 Brigade in Jalingo, Taraba State, marking the handover from the outgoing Commander, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa.
In his inaugural address, Brigadier General Akaliro expressed gratitude to God Almighty and to the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, for the confidence reposed in him and the opportunity to lead the brigade. He commended the exemplary conduct and notable achievements of his predecessor and pledged to sustain and build upon the existing legacy through effective administration, professional excellence, deterrence operations, and exemplary leadership. He further assured that the brigade would be driven toward greater operational success and wished the outgoing Commander well in his new assignment.
Earlier in his valedictory address, Brigadier General Uwa expressed profound appreciation to the officers and soldiers of the brigade for their unwavering dedication, professionalism, and support throughout his tenure. He attributed the numerous operational successes and achievements recorded during his command to the collective commitment and tireless efforts of the troops.
The outgoing Commander urged personnel of the brigade to extend the same level of loyalty, cooperation, and professionalism to his successor. “It has been an unforgettable period for me in Taraba State, working with highly dedicated officers and soldiers. I have no doubt in your loyalty and competence. I urge you to give Brigadier General Akaliro even greater support to enable him to build on our successes,” he stated.
The ceremony featured the signing of handing and taking over notes, the decoration of the new Brigade Commander with the 6 Brigade/Sector 3 OPWS insignia, as well as the symbolic lowering and hoisting of flags for the outgoing and incoming Commanders.
