Chief Of Air Staff Celebrates Eid-El-Kabir With Troops Of Operation Diran Mikiya

The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, on, 21 August 2018, hosted officers and men of the Air Task Force (ATF), Operation DIRAN MIKIYA, to a luncheon as part of the Eid-El-Kabir celebrations. The occasion, which held at the ATF Headquarters in Katsina, provided an opportunity for the CAS to interact with the troops who had been working tirelessly to ensure peace and stability in the Northwest of Nigeria. NAF personnel in various frontline locations in Zamfara State were not left out of the celebrations as they were similarly hosted at their locations in Kaura Namoda, Galadi, Shinkafi as well as the 207 Quick Response Group Headquarters in Gusau.

Addressing the troops, the Air Officer Commanding, Special Operations Command, Air Vice Marshal Samson Akpasa, who represented the CAS at the event, expressed delight with the performance of the ATF under the command of Air Commodore Ayoola Jolasinmi. He extended the good wishes of the CAS and further encouraged personnel to sustain the tenacious approach towards eliminating the activities of armed bandits in Zamfara and surrounding States with a view to ensuring peace in the Country. Furthermore, the CAS commended troops of the Nigerian Army (NA) and other security agencies for their efforts in the joint operations against the armed bandits.

Some heads of sister Services and security agencies in Katsina State, including the NA and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), who attended the luncheon along with some of their personnel, all acknowledged the efforts of the NAF and the significant successes achieved in the fight against armed banditry in the Northwest since the commencement of Operation DIRAN MIKIYA. They expressed appreciation to the CAS for the laudable initiative behind the operation, noting that the potency of Air Power had been effectively demonstrated in the tangible results that had been witnessed. They stated their commitment to work together for the success of the anti-armed banditry operations in the Northwest of the country.

The occasion, which ended with a vote of thanks delivered by the Commander 213 Forward Operations Base Katsina, Group Captain Hadi Ahmed, also had officials of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency and Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority in attendance.
