
Chief Of Air Staff Drives Joint Security Synergy In South-South Operations At Easter Luncheon In Port Harcourt
The Chief of the Air Staff’s Easter Luncheon with frontline personnel of the Air Component, Joint Task Force South-South, Operation DELTA SAFE (OPDS) was held on 6 April 2026 at NAF Base Port Harcourt, further underscoring the Nigerian Air Force’s (NAF) unwavering commitment to troop welfare, frontline motivation, and sustained operational effectiveness. The Special Guest of Honour, the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, was represented by the Chief of Logistics, Headquarters NAF, Air Vice Marshal Hassan Yurkusi, whose presence reflected the Service’s leadership-driven approach to sustaining morale and operational momentum across critical theatres. The event brought together personnel of the Air Component alongside representatives of sister services, other security agencies, NAF veterans, corps members, field support representatives on the T129 ATAK helicopters, and other distinguished guests, projecting the unity of purpose currently driving national security efforts in the South-South.
The programme featured a welcome address by the Air Component Commander, who commended personnel for their resilience, professionalism, and mission focus in support of ongoing operations. In his remarks, Air Vice Marshal Hassan Yurkusi conveyed the CAS’s profound appreciation to troops for their sacrifices and steadfast commitment to safeguarding critical national assets and preserving stability in the Niger Delta region. He reaffirmed the NAF’s resolve to continue providing the operational support, logistics backbone, and welfare enablers required to sustain the current tempo of joint operations. A goodwill message by the Commandant, Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) ONNE, further highlighted the strong inter-service cooperation and shared commitment of security stakeholders to peace, safety, and economic stability in the region.
The Easter engagement significantly boosted troop morale and further reinforced the spirit of inter-agency synergy within the theatre.
