Chief Of Air Staff Flags Off Nigerian Air Force Post-Service Housing Estates, Announces Discount For Airmen
The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, has reaffirmed the Nigerian Air Force’s unwavering commitment to enhancing personnel welfare through the provision of affordable post-service housing. This was conveyed during the groundbreaking ceremony for the Nigerian Air Force Estates project on 12 March 2026, an initiative of NAFIL Housing and Construction Company, which aligns with his command philosophy of prioritising personnel well-being as a critical enabler for sustaining a highly motivated, professional and mission-ready force capable of delivering decisive airpower in support of national security objectives.
Representing the CAS at the ceremony, the Chief of Policy and Plans, Air Vice Marshal Abubakar Abdullahi, acknowledged the rising costs of land acquisition and construction materials but assured personnel of the Service’s resolve to maintain affordability across selected housing categories. He announced a 10 per cent discount for airmen on bungalow units at the NAF estates in Giri and Idu, urging eligible personnel to leverage the initiative to secure dignified and sustainable housing for themselves and their families in retirement. He further noted that ongoing recruitment necessitated by prevailing security demands has increased personnel strength and heightened the need for expanded accommodation and infrastructure, with the NAF working assiduously to bridge existing gaps in barracks and post-service housing.
The CAS also disclosed that the Federal Government has committed substantial resources towards the modernisation of the NAF fleet, with plans underway to induct 64 new aircraft platforms in the coming years. He expressed profound appreciation to the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces for his continued support, while reaffirming the Nigerian Air Force’s commitment to safeguarding national sovereignty in line with constitutional mandates. Earlier, the Group Managing Director of NAFIL Group of Companies, Air Vice Marshal Ibitayo Ajiboye, emphasised the organisation’s dedication to delivering high-quality, affordable housing projects in support of the Service’s broader personnel welfare agenda.
