Chief Of Air Staff Sets Renewed Air Power Course, Reaffirms Welfare-Driven Warfare During Operational Visit To Makurdi
The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, has reaffirmed the Nigerian Air Force’s strengthened commitment to air power readiness and welfare-driven warfare during his maiden operational visit to Tactical Air Command (TAC) in Makurdi. He emphasised that his newly unveiled Command Philosophy is designed to position the NAF as a professional, motivated, and mission-ready force capable of delivering decisive air power effects in support of national security objectives. Praising the efforts of TAC personnel, he noted, “Your contributions to Operation WHIRL STROKE and our other operational theatres show that Tactical Air Command is indispensable to our mission. Your courage and professionalism inspire confidence across the country.”
Air Marshal Aneke urged personnel to maintain heightened readiness, stressing that the current security landscape demands greater vigilance and sustained operational tempo. “This is not the time to slow down,” he stated. “To retain the initiative in today’s complex security space, we must ensure the highest levels of aircraft serviceability, weapons readiness, and personnel proficiency.” He further underscored his policy of Welfare for Enhanced Warfare, reiterating that welfare remains a strategic requirement for effective air operations. The CAS assured that Headquarters NAF will continue to prioritise improved living conditions, timely allowances, and strengthened administrative and medical support.
In expressing TAC’s commitment, the Air Officer Commanding Tactical Air Command, Air Vice Marshal Patrick Obeya, pledged full alignment with the CAS’s renewed vision, affirming that TAC personnel remain motivated and ready to deliver decisive air power across all theatres. The CAS closed by reaffirming his determination to build a force that is agile, innovative, and fully capable of meeting Nigeria’s evolving security challenges, adding that “Together, we will build a force capable of delivering air power effects wherever the nation requires.”
