
Chief Of Army Staff Commiserates With Allu Family Over Demise Of Patriarch
The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Oluwafemi Oluyede, Nigerian Army Medal, has commiserated with the family of Major General Dangana Gyobe Allu over the demise of their patriarch, Architect James Gyobe Allu who passed on after a life of remarkable service to God, humanity and the nation.
Represented by the Commander 4 Special Forces Command, Major General Hillary Nzan, the COAS conveyed the heartfelt condolences of the Nigerian Army to the bereaved family during the funeral service held at ECWA Goodnews Church, Andaha Road, Akwanga, Nasarawa State.
In his remarks, the Army Boss described the late Architect Allu as an embodiment of discipline, humility and godliness, whose virtues are clearly reflected in his son, Major General Dangana Gyobe Allu, the Deputy Chief of Policy and Plans (Staff Duties) at Army Headquarters. He urged the family to take solace in the exemplary and fulfilled life their father lived, noting that his legacies of service and integrity would continue to inspire generations.
Similarly, the Executive Governor of Taraba State, His Excellency Colonel Agbu Kefas (Rtd), in his tribute, extolled the late Architect Allu’s mentorship, patriotism, and contributions to national development. The Governor described him as a detribalized Nigerian, a father to many, and a statesman whose commitment to unity and progress would be fondly remembered.
Several speakers at the service testified to the deceased’s humility, passion for teaching, and commitment to community development. They described him as a man who lived a heavenly life on earth, upholding truth, honesty, and the fear of God.
Delivering a sermon titled “Don’t Miss Heaven” drawn from Revelation 14:13, the officiating minister, Reverend Silas Yako, reminded the congregation that death is inevitable for all mankind. He emphasized that the late Architect Allu had lived a righteous life and has joined the saints in eternal rejoicing. He urged the living to lead lives worthy of emulation, noting that only those who fear God will attain eternal rest.
Born on 1 November 1942 at Ngache, Kejah Clan, Bohor Village in Akwanga Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, the late Architect James Gyobe Allu began his early education at Sudan United Mission School, Ancho, before proceeding to the then Plateau Provincial Secondary School, Kuru (now Government Science Secondary School, Kuru, Jos). He later attended Provincial Secondary School, Okene, in 1960 and obtained a Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch.) degree from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, in 1971.
Architect Allu’s professional career was marked by integrity and distinction. He served with the former Benue-Plateau State Ministry of Works and Housing, where he rose to the position of Chief Architect. He was later seconded to the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), Abuja, as a pioneer Director of Development, where he played a key role in the early planning and construction of Nigeria’s capital city. His architectural ingenuity is evident in several landmark structures, including the Plateau State Secretariat and notable public buildings across the Federal Capital Territory.
The late Architect James Gyobe Allu lived for 82 years. He is survived by his wife, children, and grandchildren, including Major General Dangana Gyobe Allu of the Nigerian Army, and a host of other relatives.
