Chief Of Army Staff Commissions Newly Constructed Soldiers’ Transit Accommodation At Nigerian Army Ordinance Corps Headquarters, Lagos
The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has emphasized the importance of loyalty to constituted authority among troops. He made this assertion today during the commissioning ceremony of a newly built 29-flat transit accommodation for soldiers at the Nigerian Army Ordnance Corps headquarters. The facility was constructed under the leadership of Corps Commander Ordnance, Maj Gen JO Ugwuoke. The COAS was represented at the occassion by Corps Commander Signals, Maj Gen GO Adesina.
In his Remarks the Corps Commander Ordnance Maj Gen JO Ugwuoke stated that the project was as a result of his burning desire to provide a conducive living environment for the personnel as a means of mitigating the stress and hardship that personnel encounter on daily basis moving from their various accommodations all over Lagos to Abalti Barracks.
He further thanked the COAS for graciously approving the project and added that the project is in line with the COAS command philosophy and welfare of troops which remains his top most priority. He therefore enjoined them to maintain and make good use of the facility.
Highlight of the event was the presentation of keys to the beneficiaries by the SGOH.
Present to grace the event were the GOC 81 Division Nigerian Army Maj Gen FU Miginyawa, commanders of units and formations within Lagos, retired senior Officers, Principal Staff Officers and Directors. Also present were members of the NAOWA and several other distinguished invited guests.
