Chief Of Army Staff Reaffirms Commitment To Nigeria’s Security and Socio-Economic Development

On September 28, 2024, Lieutenant General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), reiterated the Nigerian Army’s (NA) unwavering commitment to national security and socio-economic development during the commissioning of a newly refurbished block of classrooms and administrative offices at Ahmad Datti Government Secondary School, located in Gwale Local Government Area, Kano State. This project highlights the NA’s dedication to enhancing educational opportunities and strengthening its relationship with the local community.

During the inauguration, Major General Nosakhare Ugbo, Chief of Civil-Military Affairs and representative of the COAS, emphasized that the project seeks to empower young people by offering high-quality educational infrastructure. He noted that this initiative will enable students to compete on a global scale and make meaningful contributions to Nigeria’s security and socio-economic growth. Major General Ugbo also praised the project executor for successfully delivering this important initiative on behalf of the Nigerian Army.

Major General Sani Bashir, Chief of Defence Communications and project executor, expressed his gratitude to the COAS for facilitating the renovation, describing it as essential to creating a conducive learning environment for the nation’s future leaders. He expressed hope that the new infrastructure would inspire both teachers and students, fostering a passion for learning and contributing to national progress. In a similar vein, Alhaji Shehu Sagagi, Chief of Staff to the Executive Governor of Kano State, lauded the COAS’s initiative, calling it an exemplary effort to advance access to quality education while safeguarding national integrity. He emphasized that the development of education is a shared responsibility, urging collective efforts to achieve the desired future for the nation.
Brigadier General Teminere Mackintosh, Commander of the 26 Armoured Brigade NA further elaborated on the project. He noted that the renovated facility, which includes four classrooms and administrative offices, is equipped with modern furniture, ceiling fans, and marker boards to provide a more conducive learning environment. He urged the school’s staff and students to utilize the upgraded infrastructure effectively to enhance academic performance and contribute positively to the development of Kano State.

This initiative reflects the NA’s enduring commitment to strengthening community relations and supporting educational development as part of its broader role in enhancing national security and socio-economic progress.
