Chief Of Civil-Military Affairs Decorates Newly Promoted Senior Officers Urges Commitment To National Security

The Chief of Civil-Military Affairs (Army), Major General Awwal Etsu-Ndagi, on Wednesday, 8 April 2026, decorated newly promoted senior officers elevated from the rank of Major to Lieutenant Colonel in the Nigerian Army.

The colourful ceremony, held at the Department’s auditorium, attracted senior officers, families, friends, and well-wishers who gathered to celebrate the significant career milestone of the officers.

In his remarks, the Chief of Civil-Military Affairs congratulated the newly promoted officers and charged them to uphold the core values of the Nigerian Army. He described their promotion as a testament to their dedication, discipline, and unwavering commitment to service. He noted that their elevation to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel comes with increased responsibilities, particularly in contributing meaningfully to the Nigerian Army and national security at large.

He further urged the officers to remain steadfast, professional, and committed to excellence in the discharge of their duties.

Speaking on behalf of the newly decorated officers, Lieutenant Colonel Damilola Aiyebogun expressed gratitude to the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, for the confidence reposed in them. He also appreciated the Chief of Civil-Military Affairs, as well as their families and colleagues, for their continuous support and encouragement.

The event marks another significant step in the career progression of the officers and reinforces the Nigerian Army’s commitment to rewarding excellence, professionalism, and service to the nation.
