
Chief Of Defence Operations Visit Operation Safe Haven, Assesses Level Of Operational Conduct
The Chief of Defence Operations, Major General EV Onumajuru, has visited Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH) to assess the level of operational conduct and get firsthand information on the security situation in the Joint Operations Area (JOA).
Welcoming the Chief of Defence Operations to Headquarters OPSH today 30 July 2025, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division Nigerian Army and Commander Operation SAFE HAVEN, Major General Folusho Oyinlola, said the visit was a bolster to the activities of the Command targeted at enhancing the security situation in the general area. The Commander outlined the major triggers of attacks in the JOA, and efforts being deployed to combat them which must accommodate community inputs and well-planned community- based network to assist security agencies in dealing effectively with the recurring challenges.
In his remarks, the Chief of Defence Operations (CDOPs), emphasised the need for troops to upscale their operations and maintain aggressive posture against armed criminals in the JOA. The CDOPs lauded OPSH for its dedication and commitment to maintaining security in a complex operational environment.
Major General Onumajuru, added that civil-military relations remain the cornerstone of internal security strategy for maximum performance. The CDOPs urged troops to dominate the movement corridors of criminals, while deepening the existing relationship with other security agencies to build a stronger intelligence system for effective operations. General Onumajuru further pledged the resolve of the Chief of Defence Staff to ensure additional combat enablers are provided to aid troops in their various operations across the JOA.
The Chief of Defence Operations after the operations brief at Headquarters 3 Division was conducted on an operational tour by the GOC and Commander OPSH to Sector 8 Mangu Area of Responsibility where he was received on arrival by the Sector Commander, Col SO Fagbemi and was also briefed on the operational activities of the Sector.
The visit featured operations brief, interactive session, signing of visitor’s book, group photograph, and operational tour to Sectors of OPSH.
