Chief Of Defence Space Administration Visits The Naval Headquarters
The newly appointed Chief of Defence Space Administration (CDSA), Air Vice Marshal Lanre Ibrahim Oluwatoyin, paid a courtesy visit to Naval Headquarters and he was received by the Chief of Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla.
The CDSA stated that sequel to his recent appointment, it was imperative he visited the CNS to introduce himself, share his vision for DSA and itemise areas of collaboration with the Nigerian Navy (NN). Those areas include:
a. Application of satellite imagery for mapping, hydrography & depth patterns of coastal waters.
b. Training on CyberSecurity, Open Source Intelligence and Dark Web Investigation.
c. Application of Space Surveillance Sytems for forecasting and future plans.
Finally, the CDSA thanked the CNS for the audience and the support given to DSA by the NN in the recent past, including the posting of requisite manpower to the agency.
In response, the CNS stated that the functions of DSA are critical to the success of Naval operations. He expressed his delight at the quick progress of the DSA and reiterated the need for DSA to assist the NN by providing satellite imagery data to improve the quality and accuracy of nautical charts produced by the Hydrographic Department. Finally he thanked the CDSA for his visit and promised to continue supporting the agency.
