Chief Of Defence Staff Visits Headquarters 2 Division Nigerian Army, Reassures Continuous Support Of Division’s Activities

The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, OFR, has reassured his continuous support to Headquarters (HQ) 2 Division Nigerian Army (NA), particularly in aiding the Division to sustain the fight against insecurity within its Area of Responsibility (AOR). The CDS, gave the assurance while on a courtesy visit to HQ 2 Division Ibadan, on 24 July 2025.

In his remarks, General Musa stressed the need for personnel of 2 Division and the entire NA to remain committed in the discharge of their constitutional responsibilities, which he said, bothers mainly on protecting lives and property, as well as safeguarding the nation. He further encouraged Commanders at all levels of command, to pay close attention to the welfare of troops under command; adding that such actions will boost troops’ moral and also guarantee individual and collective commitment, and productivity.

He reiterated his continuous support to the Division, urging all personnel to be their brother’s keepers especially while navigating through the prevailing circumstances, and challenges in the frontlines.

Earlier during the visit, the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 2 Division NA, Maj General Obinna Onubogu, appreciated the CDS for finding time to visit officers and soldiers at the Division’s HQ. He outlined the Division’s extensive coverage, which spans across Oyo, Osun, Ekiti, Kwara, Ondo, Edo and Kogi States; including some parts of Niger Strate. He further explained the Division’s roles in ensuring effective internal security operations, and sustained training programmes in order to keep troops fit enough to contend with prevailing security challenges.

Maj Gen Onubogu, further expressed gratitude to the CDS for his strategic guidance, and words of encouragement to the entire Division; and pledged that the Division will continue to intensity plans to sustain the fight against insecurity. He also appreciated the senior officers and other members of the CDS’ entourage for their contributions and sacrifices towards national peace and unity.

General Musa, was taken on a guided tour of Adekunle Fajuyi Cantonment, as the visit ended with presentation of souvenirs, and group photograph.
