
Chief Of Naval Staff Condoles With The Family Of Late Rear Admiral USA Chugali
The Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, has condoled with the family of the late Rear Admiral USA Chugali (Rtd) during a condolence visit on Saturday, 31 January 2026.
During the visit, Vice Admiral Abbas, on behalf of the officers, men, and civilian staff of the Nigerian Navy, expressed deep sympathy to the bereaved family. He described the late Rear Admiral Chugali as a dedicated and highly professional senior naval officer whose service, leadership, and commitment contributed significantly to the operational successes recorded by the Nigerian Navy in recent years.
The CNS noted that the passing of Rear Admiral Chugali is a great loss not only to his immediate family and the Nigerian Navy, but also to the nation at large, as his career was marked by distinction, integrity, and an unwavering sense of duty. Vice Admiral Abbas assured the family that the Nigerian Navy shares in their grief and stands in solidarity with them during this difficult time.
He further offered prayers for the repose of the soul of the departed and for strength and comfort for the family. The CNS also encouraged officers and men of the Nigerian Navy to honour the memory of the late senior officer by upholding the values of professionalism, excellence, and selfless service which he exemplified throughout his career. He concluded by assuring the family. of the Nigerian Navy’s continued support as they navigate this period of mourning.
