Chief Of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral EI Ogalla Sends Goodwill Message To Female Personnel Of Nigerian Navy On International Women’s Day 2025
As we celebrate the International Women’s Day 2025, I want to acknowledge the unique efforts of all female personnel in the Nigerian Navy. The Nigerian Navy has consistently ensured that our female personnel are given equal opportunities in all aspects of Naval profession. In the past few years, we have accelerated the participation of female personnel in operations through increase in recruitment and enlistment. This is in line with the theme for this year’s celebration, which is “Accelerate Action”.
In December 2024, the first female helicopter pilot in the Nigerian Navy was decorated. We also appointed a female Commanding Officer for one of our sea going vessels. We equally rejigged our training policies to include more women in all aspects of our operational training including Engineering, Flying Duties and Hydrography. This is in line with global best practices for greater involvement of women in national security and defence. As we celebrate the International Women’s Day today, I am proud of all our female personnel and I look forward to their greater exploits.
On behalf of officers, ratings and civilian staff of the Nigerian Navy, I sincerely wish all women, particularly our female personnel and our wives and female children, Happy International Women’s Day. You are appreciated today, as always. Thank you and Onward Together.
