Chief of the Air Staff Completes Operational Tour Of Nigerian Air Force Units In South-West, Assesses Readiness and Upgrades

The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS) has concluded a four-day operational tour of Nigerian Air Force (NAF) units in the South-West, reaffirming the Force’s commitment to operational excellence, innovation, and personnel welfare. From 12 to 15 December 2024, the CAS inspected key facilities at various units, including 055 NAF Camp Victoria Island, 631 Aircraft Maintenance Depot (ACMD) and 643 Equipment Supply Depot (ESD) in Ikeja as well as the 653 NAF Station and 663 NAF Mother & Child Hospital in Badagry, Lagos State. While in Lagos, he also commissioned the NAF Officers Wives Association (NAFOWA) Multipurpose Hall at Sam Ethnan Air Force Base, Ikeja, a welfare initiative spearheaded by NAFOWA National President, Architect (Dr) Mrs Rakiya Abubakar.

The CAS next proceeded to the Air Force Comprehensive Secondary School in Igbara-Oke, Ondo State; NAF Institute of Safety, Ipetu Ijesha; and the Air Force Research and Development Institute (AFRDI) Oshogbo, Osun State; he also inspected work on the permanent site of the NAF School of Finance and Accounting (NAFSFA) in Ibadan, Oyo State. At each location, the CAS held Durbars (essentially the military equivalent of Town Hall meetings) with personnel, assessed indigenous technology projects, and provided strategic guidance on ensuring timely and high-quality upgrades aligned with global standards. He emphasised teamwork, discipline, and innovation as essential to building an agile and resilient Air Force capable of addressing future security challenges.
