
Chief Of The Naval Staff Continues The Inspection Of Ships and Units In Port Harcourt Area
On Friday, 5 December 2025, the Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Idi Abbas (Admiralty Medal), continued the inspection of several Nigerian Navy ships and units in Port Harcourt area. The Units visited include:
a. Headquarters Naval Training Command.
b. Nigerian Naval College.
c. Nigerian Navy Basic Training School.
d. All Nigerian Navy Sea Going Vessels.
At the Headquarters Naval Training Command and the Nigerian Naval College, both co-located at Ebubu–Eleme, Rivers State, the Flag Officer Commanding, Rear Admiral EA Zipele showed the CNS round all the facilities. Thereafter, the CNS addressed the cadets in training and urged them to embody exemplary character, discipline and unwavering commitment to their training. He emphasised that the future of the Nigerian Navy rests on their dedication to excellence and adherence to core naval values. The CNS also participated in a symbolic tree-planting exercise, underscoring the Service’s commitment to environmental sustainability.
Subsequently, at the Nigerian Navy Basic Training School (NNBTS), Onne, the CNS commissioned several projects executed under the leadership of the Commandant, Rear Admiral Victor Choji. The projects include:
a. Remodelled Regulating Office
b. Citadel Naval Training Monument
c. Golden Monument
d. NNBTS Golf Course
e. NNBTS Bakery
f. NNBTS Photostand
g. Remodelled Commandant’s Office Complex
h. Remodelled Officers’ Mess
Lastly, the CNS proceeded to inspect all Nigerian Navy sea-going vessels berthed at the Onne Jetty to assess their operational readiness.
