Chief Of The Naval Staff Working Visit To Yenagoa Bayelsa State

On Tuesday, 25 November 2025, the Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Idi Abbas (Admiralty Medal), conducted a one day working visit to Yenagoa, Bayelsa State. After visiting Headquarters South South Operation DELTA SAFE, the CNS undertook a detailed inspection of ongoing infrastructural works in Yenagoa. Some of the working sites inspected include;

  • the proposed site of Nigerian Navy Hospital, Bayelsa.
  • the permanent site of Nigerian Navy Ship SOROH.
  • accommodation for officers and men at Palm Estate, Yenagoa.

Thereafter, the CNS visited Camp PORBENI, where the office of the Flag Officer Commanding Central Naval Command is domiciled. He went round and inspected all the structures in Camp PORBENI noting where improvements were needed.

The working visit culminated in a dialogue with officers and men in Yenagoa. During the dialogue, the CNS responded to many issues raised by both senior and junior ratings. The CNS assured all that their concerns would be addressed. For the CNS, visiting Camp PORBENI was akin to a nostalgic home coming having served as Command Admin Officer, Chief Staff Officer and Flag Officer Commanding Central Naval Command at different times in his career. All the civilian staff of the Command who had worked with him before gave the CNS a rousing and emotional welcome.
