Award-winning novelist Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie will be among a number of distinguished Nigerians to be honoured at the 2015 Silverbird Man of the Year Award tonight.
Also to be honoured in a colourful ceremony at the Prestigious Eko Hotel, Lagos are former Lagos State Governor, Bola Tinubu and the first African Chartered Accountant, Chief Akintola Williams, who will receive the prestigious Silverbird Extraordinary Award.
Chimamanda, whose works include Half of Yellow Sun, Purple Hibiscus, Americanah among others, has been selected for the Special Achievement Award alongside Environmentalist, Desmond Majekodunmi, and Founder of BenTV, Alistair Soyode.
It will be another feather in the cap for the critically acclaimed author, who first gained prominence when her work “That Harmattan Morning” won the BBC Short Story prize in 2002. She has since gone on to win numerous international awards and her 2013 TEDx talk “We should all be feminists” was sampled by pop sensation Beyonce in her hit song, Flawless.
The Silverbird Man of the Year award was instituted to honour Nigerians who have excelled in their chosen careers.
