Chinese People’s Liberation Army Navy Counter-Priracy Working Team Visits Naval Headquarters

On Friday, 5 July 2024, a 6-man Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Navy Counter Piracy Working Team headed by Senior Captain Li Zhaohui, Commander of the Chinese PLA Support Base in Djibouti visited the Naval Headquarters.

The objective of the visit was to interface with the Nigerian Navy on current counter-piracy activities in the Gulf of Guinea, as well as the regional security situation.

The Nigerian Navy team led by the representative of the Chief of the Naval Staff, Commodore Christian Oghenebrozie Akokota, had useful deliberations with the Chinese delegation on further bilateral cooperation in information sharing and joint operations as well deepening mutual understanding on addressing maritime security challenges in the Gulf of Guinea.
