Christmas Cheer To Minna Military Cantonment Children By Commander 31 Artillery Brigade, Brigadier General Mohammed Umar Jibo
The Commander 31 Artillery Brigade, Brigadier General Mohammed Umar Jibo, on Saturday, 27 December 2025, organised a maiden Christmas Children’s Party for children of Minna Military Cantonment at the 313 Artillery Regiment Parade Ground.
Speaking at the event, the Commander stated that the initiative was aimed at supporting and uplifting the children of officers and soldiers who are currently on national assignments across various parts of the country. He urged troops deployed to Maiduguri and other theatres of operation to remain committed, focused and professional in the discharge of their duties.
Brigadier General Jibo explained that the programme was designed to foster a sense of care, belonging and parental presence for children whose parents are often absent due to operational responsibilities. He noted that educational materials including school bags, lunch boxes, exercise books, pencils, biros and water bottles were provided to encourage the children to remain dedicated to their studies.
The Brigade Commander further advised the children to be disciplined, obedient and focused on their education, stressing that they represent the future of the nation.
The children were treated to a colourful celebration featuring dancing competitions, games, gift presentations and other recreational activities, making the occasion memorable.
The Special Guest of Honour, the Niger State Commissioner for Homeland and Internal Security, Barrister Maurice Magaji, commended the Commander 31 Artillery Brigade for organising the event. He emphasized the importance of caring for the families of personnel who continue to make sacrifices in the defence of the nation. He also praised the Commander for strengthening civil–military cooperation with the Niger State Government.
