Christmas Luncheon: Gen Saraso Feasts With Frontline Troops In Kachia

The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 1 Division of the Nigerian Army and Commander Sector 1 Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Major General Mayirenso Lander David Saraso, hosted a Christmas luncheon in honour of frontline troops of Sub Sector 5 Operation FANSAN YAMMA in Kachia, Kaduna State. The event, which took place at the Forward Operation Base/Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON) Complex in Agunu, Kachia Local Government Area on Saturday, December 28 2024, was attended by troops, senior officers and some prominent sons and daughters of Southern Kaduna.

Major General Saraso who read the Chief of Army Staff’s Christmas and New Year 2025 Goodwill Massage to the troops expressed appreciation to the officers, soldiers, and their families for their sacrifices, particularly during the festive season. He commended their unwavering commitment to addressing Nigeria’s security challenges and emphasized the importance of discipline, loyalty, and patriotism in fulfilling the Nigerian Army’s constitutional responsibilities.

Major General Saraso charged the troops to redouble their efforts to bring an end to banditry, kidnapping, terrorism and other forms of criminal activities in the state. He also paid tribute to fallen heroes, including the late Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General TA Lagbaja, and assured their families of the Army’s enduring support.

The GOC who thanked the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede NAM, for his unwavering support and strategic guidance of the Nigerian Army also applauded the troops resilience and commitment while reaffirming the Army’s commitment to defending Nigeria’s territorial integrity.

Earlier, the Commander Sub Sector 5, Navy Captain Mohammed Adamu, described the luncheon as a morale booster for the troops who were engaged in operations in Southern Kaduna. He noted that the event would foster camaraderie, enhance collaboration, and provide an opportunity to address the numerous challenges of insecurity in the area.

Similarly, Commander AK Gadzama of the Nigerian Navy Special Operations Force also delivered a vote of thanks, appreciating the GOC and other distinguished guests for attending the event. He also lauded the efforts of sister security agencies, local stakeholders, and the good people of Southern Kaduna for their continuous cooperation towards addressing the challenges of insecurity in the area.

The event featured various activities, including serving different delicacies to the troops, comedy performances, dancing competitions, presentation of souvenirs and group photographs. Prominent personalities who attended the event included the Deputy Speaker of Kaduna State House of Assembly, the Honorable Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, and traditional as well as religious leaders and other stakeholders from Southern Kaduna area.
