COAS Commemorates Eid-El-Fitr With Sick and Wounded Troops, Reaffirms Commitment To Welfare and Combat Readiness

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede NAM, on Sunday, 30 March 2025, marked the Year 2025 Eid-El-Fitr Celebration with the sick and wounded soldiers on hospital admission at the 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital in Kaduna as well as other troops deployed on various operations within 1 Division on Area of Responsibility. Represented by Commander Infantry Corps, Major General Abdul Khalifa Ibrahim OFR, the COAS reiterated his dedication to the troops’ welfare and combat readiness.

“Eid-El-Fitr symbolizes mutual respect, peaceful co-existence, and national unity,” General Ibrahim remarked. “As we celebrate, we reflect on the values of sacrifice, resilience, and faith that underpin the Nigerian Army’s core principles.”

The COAS urged troops to uphold their patriotic spirit, acknowledging their unwavering commitment to safeguarding the nation. He emphasized the Army’s commitment to troops welfare and combat readiness, aligning with his Command Philosophy.

Earlier, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 1 Division and Commander Sector 1 Joint Task Force Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Major General Mayirenso Lander David Saraso, updated the invited guests in attendance on the security situation within the Division’s Area of Responsibility. Despite describing it as volatile and complex, he highlighted the significant strides recorded in ensuring peace and stability, including the improved security environment along key roads and successful rescue operations.

The event was attended by Commanders, Principal Staff Officers, Senior Officers and staff from the Headquarters 1 Division and 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital Kaduna. Highlights of the event include cultural performances, a luncheon, and interactions with the sick and wounded troops, thereby fostering camaraderie and appreciation for the nation’s defenders.
