
COAS Commissions ICT Centre In Dukku LGA, Gombe State
The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, on Thursday, 13 November 2025, commissioned a newly established Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Centre at Dukku Local Government Area of Gombe State. The project, executed under the Chief of Army Staff Special Intervention Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) Project (CSICP) Scheme was facilitated by the Director General Land Forces Simulation Centre Nigeria, Major General Mohammed Bello Wabili as part of the Nigerian Army’s continued effort to strengthen its relationship with civil communities and support national development through education and technology.
In his remarks, the COAS represented by the General Officer Commanding 3 Division and Commander OPERATION ENDURING PEACE, Major General Folorunsho Oyinlola, noted that the project underscores the Nigerian Army’s unwavering commitment to fostering positive civil-military relations while contributing meaningfully to the social and economic growth of host communities. He commended Major General Mohammed Wabili for his foresight and dedication in facilitating the project and urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the facilities provided.
The colorful occasion brought together, senior military officers, government officials, traditional rulers, heads of security and paramilitary agencies as well as the entire Dukku community. The newly commissioned ICT Centre is equipped with 12 desktop computers, a solar inverter system, projector, printer, laminating machine, central server, and other equipment aimed at enhancing digital literacy, promoting learning, and empowering the local population with vital technological skills.
Earlier in his welcome address, the project facilitator, Major General Mohammed Wabili, expressed gratitude to the Chief of Army Staff for his continuous commitment to bridging the gap between the Nigerian Army and the civilian populace through sustainable community-oriented projects. He noted that the ICT Centre would serve as a hub for learning, innovation, and empowerment, particularly for students and young people in the area.
The Executive Governor of Gombe State, Alhaji Mohammed Inuwa Yahaya, represented by the Honourable Commissioner for Trade, Industry, and Tourism, Alhaji Nasiru Mohammed Aliyu, commended the Nigerian Army for its continuous contributions to the state. He described the ICT Centre as a welcome development that will strengthen educational and economic advancement in Dukku and the state at large.
The commissioning ceremony also featured a Vote of Thanks delivered by the Executive Chairman of Dukku LGA, Alhaji Adamu Muhammed Waziri, who expressed deep gratitude to the COAS, the Nigerian Army, and all stakeholders for their support and commitment to the progress of the community.
Other dignitaries in attendance were the Chief of Civil-Military Affairs (Army), Major General Musa Etsu-Ndagi, represented at the event by the Deputy Director, Civil Sponsorship Desk, Colonel Bashir Bello, Commander 301 Artillery Regiment (General Support) Gombe, Emir of Dukku , Alhaji Haruna Abdulkadir El – Rashid II CON, Representative of Emir of Gombe, Alhaji Ahmed Walama, Community leaders and residents of Dukku LGA.
The high point of the event was the iconic cutting of the commissioning ribbon by the COAS, the unveiling of the commemorative plaque, and the group photograph.
