COAS Inaugurates Leadership and Strategic Studies Course 4/2025

The inauguration ceremony of the Leadership and Strategic Studies Course 4/2025 was held on Wednesday 4 December 2025 at Hall C, TY Buratai Building, Nigerian Army Resource Centre (NARC), Asokoro District, Abuja.

In his welcome remarks, the Director General of the Nigerian Army Resource Centre, Major General JGK Myam (retired) OFR, welcomed the Special Guest of Honour and congratulated the participants on their nomination to attend the eleven-month intensive course. He noted that the programme is designed to enhance the capacity and competence of Direct Regular Course officers of the Nigerian Army to understand the nexus between leadership, strategy, national security and national development. He urged the participants to give their best, emphasising that significant efforts and resources have been invested to ensure the smooth conduct of the course. He expressed confidence that they would emerge as better leaders prepared to assume greater responsibilities in the field.

The Director General also thanked the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General W Shaibu, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Nigerian Army Resource Centre, for his strategic guidance and steady support.

In his remarks, the Special Guest of Honour, the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu NAM, ably represented by Major General TE Gagariga, Director General of the Nigerian Army Heritage and Future Centre, expressed delight to be at the Centre. He reminded the participants of the aspirations that led to the conception of the course and commended its outcomes as reflected in the performance of officers in the field.

He noted that the course exposes participants to critical areas such as military leadership, strategy, national security, public administration and policymaking in support of national development.

He further expressed confidence that the participants will contribute significantly to strengthening the operational and leadership capacity of the Nigerian Army.

While declaring the course open, he appreciated the Director General and the management staff and urged them not to relent in ensuring that the course continues to produce the desired outcomes. He also thanked the President, Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, for his continued support to the Nigerian Army and reaffirmed the Army’s commitment to effectively discharging its constitutional roles in service to Nigeria.

The highlights of the ceremony were the formal inauguration of the course and the group photograph.
