COAS Organizes Christmas Luncheon For 35 Artillery Brigade Troops In Abeokuta
The Chief of Army Staff(COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu NAM has on 25th December 2025, organized a Christmas Luncheon for troops of 35 Artillery Brigade in Abeokuta, Ogun State as part of year 2025 christmas celebration. The troops are deployed as Special Intervention Force at the Nigeria border with Benin Republic following the failed coup in Benin Republic.
In his welcome remarks during the event, the Commanding Officer 351 Artillery Regiment, Lieutenant Colonel Innocent Matthew welcomed all the troops to Imeko for the christmas celebration. He stated that the troops sacrifice is the reason they are celebrating this special day. He added that their sacrifices are not taken for granted.
The Commander 35 Artillery Brigade, Brigadier General Godwin Nwamba who represented the COAS gave the COAS Goodwill Message. He urged all personnel to remember the essence of the season and to show love to one another, reflect on their journey individually and collectively as well as rededicate themselves to the ideals of unity, discipline and professionalism. He encouraged all officers and soldiers as the new year draws near to embrace 2026 with fresh optimism, commitment and determination.
He charged the troops to intensify their efforts to tackle emerging threats, consolidate the gains already achieved in all the operational theatres and uphold the honour and integrity of the service.
General Nwamba enjoined the troops to maintain synergy with other sister security agencies and to always be ready to assist when called upon. He advised the troops to respect the culture and customs of the host community.
Present at the event were the Commander 35 Artillery Brigade, Brigadier General Godwin Nwamba, the Oloola of Ilara, Oba Dr Mutiu Alani Adedimeji, the Commanding Officer 351 Artillery Regiment, Lieutenant Colonel Innocent Matthew, representative of Benin Police, officers, security agencies in Ogun State amongst others.
In a related development, the COAS Christmas Luncheon was also organized for troops of Operation MESA and AWATSE in Sagamu Local Government Area of the State.
