Commandant Nigerian Defence Academy Pays Courtesy Visit To The Chief Of The Naval Staff

On Wednesday, 26 November 2025, the Commandant of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), Major General Oluyemi Olatoye, paid a courtesy visit to the Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, at the Naval Headquarters, Abuja.

The Commandant, who was received by the CNS, expressed appreciation for the warm reception despite the CNS’ demanding schedule. He sought the continued support of the Nigerian Navy in strengthening the Nigerian Defence Academy so it remains a beacon of excellence and hope for the Armed Forces of Nigeria.

Major General Olatoye noted that he intends to build on his predecessor’s achievements, focusing on progress rather than the challenges. He further revealed that he had toured the various wings in the Academy and has a fair understanding of what is required to improve and reinforce its reputation as a premier citadel of military training in Nigeria.

In his response, the CNS congratulated the Commandant on his appointment and expressed full confidence in his ability to steer the NDA to greater heights. He urged him to uphold the esteemed values for which the NDA is known and reaffirmed his support to the Commandant as he embarks on the onerous task of producing officers the Armed Forces of Nigeria will be proud of.
