Commander 14 Brigade Embarks On Operational Visit To Units Under His Command, Emphasizes On Discipline and Professionalism

The Commander 14 Brigade Nigerian Army and Commander Sector 3 Southeast Operation UDO KA (OPUK), Brigadier General Hassan Bello recently concluded a week – long operational and familiarization visit to units under his command. The tour, which began on February 17, 2025, aimed to assess operational readiness and re-inforce the importance of discipline and professionalism among troops within the Brigade’s Area of Responsibility (AOR). The initial stop was at the 143 Ranger Battalion (143 Bn) Ovim, where the Commander inspected a quarter guard mounted in his honour.

During his visit to 143 Bn, Brigadier General Bello received a detailed briefing from the Commanding Officer Lieutenant Colonel Buda Magaji on the Unit’s ongoing Operations to counter the activities of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and Eastern Security Network (ESN) in Abia State. He commended the battalion’s successes and urged the troops to maintain focus and pro-activity, working closely with other security agencies to ensure seamless operations. He also reaffirmed Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede’s commitment to the welfare of troops and their families.

The Commander also toured the barracks, inspecting troops accommodations, the Medical Reception Station (MRS), amongst other facilities. A visit to the Nigerian Army Language Institute followed, where he interacted with personnel undergoing French language course. The senior officer further stressed on the significance of French language proficiency, and the potential for joint operations with francophone countries.

Similarly, Brig Gen Bello visited 144 Bn (Rear) Asa and 145 Bn (Rear) Forward Operations Base Umuahia, where he received briefings from Commanding Officer Rear Major Muhammad Sa’ad and Major Mantim Domkat respectively. He inspected the battalions’ operational readiness and combat capabilities. The visit culminated at the Brigade’s Garrison, where he was briefed by Garrison Commander Lieutenant Colonel Adamu Ango before touring Forward Operating Bases (FOBs) within the state.

While addressing the troops, Brig Gen Bello assured them of his commitment to building upon the operational and administrative achievements of his predecessor. The operational visit featured inspections of quarter guards, operational briefings, guided tours, signing of visitors’ books, presentation of souvenirs, and group photographs.
