
Commander 301 AR Hosts INEC Gombe State As Honourable Resident Electoral Commissioner Seeks Collaboration
The Commander 301 Artillery Regiment (General Support) Colonel Abubakar Mohammed Mohammed has played host to the Honourable Resident Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Gombe State, Dr. Sa’ad Umar Idris and his team today 16 July 2025 at the 301 Artillery Regiment New Barrack, Gombe State.
During the visit, the Commander emphasized the importance of collaboration and training between the Army and INEC to ensure the safety of citizens during elections. He noted that while Gombe State has enjoyed relative peace during electoral processes, the partnership would further enhance the security of lives and properties in the state.
The Commander stressed that when all stakeholders play their roles without compromise, elections are likely to be free, fair, and violence-free.
Dr. Sa’ad Umar Idris, in his remarks, outlined the purpose of his visit, highlighting the need for continued cooperation between INEC and security agencies to promote peaceful elections.
He further thanked the Commander 301 Artillery Regiment for his warm welcome, stating that upon assuming office, his first point of contact was to meet security agencies. He further stated that the role of security agencies in elections cannot be overemphasized, as security agencies, especially the Nigerian Army, play a critical role in ensuring the smooth conduct of elections in Nigeria.
”We need your support and cooperation to succeed, as you play a very critical role in ensuring the safety of citizens and electoral materials during elections,” he said.
He commended the Nigerian Army, for their efforts in keeping the country one, stating that INEC is ready to collaborate with the Nigerian Army in terms of training, consultations, and capacity building.
The highlight of the visit was the presentation of souvenir and a group photograph.
