Commander 402 Special Forces Brigade Conducts Operational Visit To 198 Special Forces Battalion
The Commander 402 Special Forces Brigade, Brigadier General Mohammed Bako Shehu, and his entourage have conducted an operational visit to 198 Special Forces Battalion within Sector 2 Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI Area of Responsibility (AOR).
Upon arrival in Damaturu, the Commander paid a courtesy call on the Acting Commander Sector 2, Brigadier General Beyedi Martins, at the Sector Headquarters. Thereafter, both Commanders proceeded to 198 Special Forces Battalion, Katarko, in company of the Acting Commander Sector 2.
The visit became necessary following the Boko Haram Terrorists (BHT) ambush on own troops on 17 October 2025, which resulted in the loss of personnel and equipment. The Commander commiserated with the unit over the unfortunate incident, after which a special prayer was offered for the eternal repose of the fallen heroes.
While addressing the troops, Brigadier General Shehu boosted their morale and charged them to remain resolute, aggressive, and ruthless against the BHT terrorists. He further provided operational guidance, including the staggering of offensive operations, aimed at enhancing effectiveness and synergy in the field.
The Commander also welcomed newly inducted soldiers to the theatre and emphasized the importance of continuous in-theatre training and rehearsals to maintain combat readiness. On administrative matters, he enlightened the troops on the proper procedure for accessing Special Forces allowance upon completion of the SF course.
In continuation of the visit, the Commander proceeded to the Yobe State Teaching Hospital, where he visited wounded-in-action (WIA) personnel and supported them with a token as a mark of empathy and encouragement.
The visit was hitch-free. Troops have continued to maintain vigilance and maximum alertness, while the general situation remains calm.
