Commander 402 Special Forces Conducts Operational Tour Of Front-line Units

The Commander 402 Special Forces Brigade, Brigadier General Mohammed Bako Shehu, has embarked on a week-long operational tour across the Brigade’s Area of Responsibility (AOR). The visit was aimed at assessing troops’ operational readiness, enhancing familiarity with personnel under his command, and gathering first hand intelligence on the prevailing security situation.

As part of the tour, the Brigade Commander visited key locations, including the formidable 198 Special Forces Battalion in Afaka, Forward Operational Base (FOB), as well as 134 Special Forces Battalion in Gwagwada and 133 Special Forces Battalion in Azare.

Some major highlights of the visit were the inspection of the Quarter Guard and address to officers and soldiers, where he commended their dedication and sacrifices in countering insurgency. Additionally, Brig Gen Shehu visited Damba, an operational location under the 198 SF Battalion, followed by 134 SF Battalion in Gwagwada, and then 133 SF Battalion in Azare.

At 133 SF Battalion, the Senior Officer inspected the newly constructed Quarter Guard and officially commissioned the newly built battalion Headquarters. The project, spearheaded by the Commanding Officer of 133 SF Battalion, Lt Col AK Kachalla, was inaugurated on 27th February 2025. The Commander also took time to address the barrack community.

In his remarks, Brig Gen Shehu commended the troops for their relentless efforts in combating insurgents and urged them to remain vigilant, disciplined, and professional in their duties. He stressed the need to deny insurgents freedom of action within the Brigade’s AOR and warned against the menace of ammunition theft. He also reaffirmed the importance of continuous training and capacity building for personnel.

The operational tour concluded with a visit around the 133 SF Battalion Barracks in Azare, re-inforcing the Brigade’s commitment to the welfare and operational effectiveness of its troops.
