Commander 6 Brigade Meets Stakeholders In Ibi, Moves To Curb Crime and Resolve Communal Disputes

The Commander of 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), on Wednesday 26 November 2025, held a high-level stakeholders security meeting at the Palace of the Emir of Ibi, in Ibi LGA of Taraba State, aimed at addressing rising security concerns and communal disputes in the area.

The meeting, which commenced about 2:00 pm, brought together key community leaders, government officials and security representatives to deliberate on issues threatening peace across parts of Ibi Local Government Area.

High on the agenda were the incursion of criminals from neighbouring states, farmland disputes, illegal harvesting of crops, and lingering chieftaincy tussles in Dampar, Tapga, Sarkin Kudu and Gidan Kiye communities, all of which have contributed to loss of lives and destruction of property.

The session had in attendance His Royal Highness, the Emir of Ibi, Alhaji Alhaji Abubakar Salihu Danbauro, as well as the Chairman of Ibi LGA, Mr. Emmanuel Ubandoma, alongside district heads, local chiefs, community leaders and teams from sister security agencies.

Speaking at the meeting, the Brigade Commander urged all stakeholders to renew their commitment to peaceful coexistence and strongly condemned the reported cases of individuals preventing farmers from harvesting their crops. He stressed that such acts are provocative, capable of sparking violent clashes, and would henceforth attract serious consequences.

He further reminded traditional leaders and community heads of their primary responsibility to protect peace within their domains, warning that security agencies will take decisive action against anyone fueling crises.

The meeting ended peacefully at about 4:00 pm after all parties agreed to work together to sustain peace in the area.
