Commander 6 Division Garrison Reaffirms Commitment To Inter-Agency Cooperation, Hosts Stakeholders In Port Harcourt Barracks
The Commander, 6 Division Garrison and Commander Sector 3 Joint Task Force, South South, Operation DELTA SAFE, Brigadier General Abubakar Adamu Bello, has reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s commitment to strengthening inter-agency cooperation and collaboration towards enhancing national security. He made this known on 6 November, 2025, when he received in audience the Chief Vehicle Inspection Officer and Director of Road Traffic Services, Rivers State, Engineer Akobo Monibo, and the Customs Area Controller, Port Harcourt Area 1 Command, Comptroller Salamatu Atuluku, during separate visits to the 6 Division Garrison Headquarters, Port Harcourt.
During the visit, Engineer Monibo commended the Nigerian Army for its strategic role in maintaining peace and stability across Rivers State, noting that the absence of Vehicle Inspection Officers in the past had contributed to a rise in accidents caused by unfit vehicles. He added that since the resumption of operations on December 2, 2024, the agency has focused on ensuring that vehicles are roadworthy and properly documented.
He, however, highlighted that as an unarmed organization, VIO personnel have faced harassment and assaults from members of the public, prompting the need for stronger synergy with the military for protection and operational support.
In a related vein, the Customs Area Controller, Port Harcourt Area 1 Command, Comptroller Salamatu Atuluku, expressed her pleasure meeting the Commander and sought collaboration with the Division in the discharge of her duties, especially in areas that align with national security objectives. She stressed that no security agency can effectively operate in isolation.
In his remarks, Brigadier General Bello underscored the criticality of inter-agency cooperation, emphasizing that every service must work together along different functional lines in pursuit of national security objectives. He appreciated the visiting officials for their visit and reassured them of the Nigerian Army’s continuous support whenever the need arises.
