
Commander 6 Garrison Visits Security Agencies, Strengthens Institutional Collaboration
In an effort geared towards strengthening inter-agency synergy, the Commander, 6 Division Garrison, Nigerian Army (NA), and Commander Sector 3, Joint Task Force (JTF), South South (SS), Operation DELTA SAFE (OPDS), Brigadier General Abubakar Adamu Bello, has visited some critical Government Security Agencies in Rivers State, on 25 September 2025.
Brigadier General Bello, who recently assumed command, visited the State Director of Security, of the Department of State Security (DSS), Mr Olusola Aguda, and the State Commandant of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Commandant Joachin Okafor. During the separate visits, the Commander underscored the importance of collaboration, stressing that it will deepen joint operations, particularly in safeguarding the nation’s strategic interests.
While at the DSS, Brigadier General Bello emphasized the importance of collective effort in tackling security challenges, stressing that “no single service can do anything alone.” He urged the Service to promptly call his attention to any security concern, assuring them of the NA’s commitment to functional synergy.
While, welcoming the new Commander to Rivers State, the SDS, Mr Aguda emphasised the critical role of intelligence in operations. He described Rivers State as relatively peaceful, but noted that security could be further enhanced by addressing illegal refineries, oil theft, and cultism. He pledged to continue to work closely with the NA, in achieving the desired end-state.
Relatedly, at the NSCDC Command, the Commander, 6 Division Garrison/Sector 3, JTF SS OPDS, Brigadier General AA Bello, likened all security agencies to components of a single system, warning that “if a part of the system is not present, the system will malfunction.” He cautioned against inter-service rivalry, adding that all agencies are working along different functional lines to achieve a common objective. He further acknowledged the warm reception accorded him and his team.
Commandant Joachim Okafor, commended the NA’s longstanding support to the NSCDC, describing the relationship as that of “father and son.” He assured the Commander of the Corps’ readiness to sustain and strengthen the existing collaboration.
