Commander Infantry Corps Hosts NCCSALW Coordinator, Commends The Centre’s Effort At Curbing Proliferation Of Illegal Arms

The outgoing Commander Infantry Corps (CIC) who is also the incoming Commandant Nigerian Defence Academy ( NDA) Major General Abdul Khalifah Ibrahim OFR on Wednesday 24 April 2025 hosted the Zonal Coordinator, National Centre for the Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons ( NCCSALW) North West Zone , Air Vice Marshal HU Mohammed rtd and his team during a courtesy visit to the Headquarters Infantry Corps Centre ( HQ ICC).

Major General Ibrahim who was the immediate past Director Policy and Plans at the HQ NCCSALW received the Zonal Coordinator at the entrance of the HQ ICC’s Complex with a colourful Quarter Guard presentation, commended the NCCSALW’s effort at curbing proliferation of illegal Small Arms and Light Weapons (SALW) in the country.

The outgoing CIC further appreciated the team for the visit and called for more collaboration and support in terms of training between the NCCSALW and other security agencies within the North West Zone.

Speaking earlier, the Zonal Coordinator NCCSALW North West Zone, Air Vice Marshal HU Mohammed rtd emphasized the need for more collaboration and cooperation among the security agencies to adequately combat proliferation of SALW and towards strengthening peace and security in the country.

Air Vice Marshal Mohammed rtd appreciated the support and advice received from Major General Ibrahim while he was serving at the HQ NCCSALW as the Director Policy and Plans, stating that the North West Zone office of the NCCSALW still considers him as part of the Centre.

He added that the Centre would continue to consult him whenever the need arises.

The Zonal Coordinator used the occasion to enlighten the audience on the vision, mission core functions and objectives including major activities and landmark achievements of the NCCSALW North West Zone office prominent amoung which is the destruction of thousands of illicit weapons.

The visit was graced by the Chief of Staff HQ ICC, Directors and Principal Staff Officers of the Infantry Corps and NCCSALW North West Zone.

Highlights of the visit included presentation of souvenirs to the senior officers, signing of visitor’s book and taking the group photograph.
