Commander Infantry Corps Pays Courtesy Visit To GOC 1 Division
The Commander Infantry Corps (CIC), Major General Abdul Khalifa Ibrahim OFR, paid a courtesy visit to the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 1 Division and Commander Sector 1 Joint Task Force North-West Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Major General Mayirenso Lander David Saraso, at the Division Headquarters in Kaduna.
During the visit, Major Gen Ibrahim outlined his vision for the Corps, emphasizing the importance of personnel welfare, productivity, and combat readiness. He stated, “My goal is to motivate our infantry formations and units by prioritizing the welfare of our personnel, implementing welfare schemes, and ensuring we’re always combat-ready at all times.”
Maj Gen Ibrahim, who was accompanied by Staff Officers of the Infantry Corps Headquarters, also formally notified the GOC of his assumption as the 57th Commander of the Corps. He described the Corps as a vital component responsible for career planning and rendering expert advice on infantry matters to the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Olufemi Oluyede NAM.The CIC commended the efforts of the GOC and other security agencies in combating insecurity and banditry in the region.
In his response, Maj Gen Saraso acknowledged Maj Gen Ibrahim’s mentorship and leadership, noting that his input has significantly contributed to his command principles.
Gen Saraso also shared the success of the non-kinetic approach in the fight against insecurity and banditry, highlighting the surrender of arms by bandits as a notable achievement. The visit was attended by senior officers including the Chief of Staff of the Division, Brig Gen DC Nwakonobi, and formation commanders/ Principal Staff Officers of the Division.
Highlights of the event included the signing of the visitor’s book, exchange of souvenirs, and group photographs.
