The Commander Infantry Corps (CIC), Major General GM Mutkut, received the Commandant of the Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC), Air Vice Marshal AO Shogbanmu, and the Commandant of the Martin Luther Agwai International Leadership and Peacekeeping Centre (MLAILPKC), Major General DG Allu, today, 28 January 2026. The duo paid separate courtesy visits to the Headquarters Infantry Corps Centre at the Conference Room.

Stating the purpose of his visit, AVM Shogbanmu noted that the visit was in line with the long-standing traditions of the College and served as a formal introduction following his appointment as the substantive Commandant of the citadel of learning. He expressed his gratitude to the CIC for his efforts in safeguarding the Jaji Military Cantonment and pledged to sustain the established cooperation between the College and the Corps.

In response, Major General Mutkut welcomed the Commandant and congratulated him on his appointment, describing him as “a square peg in a square hole.” He committed to maintaining the robust relationship between the two entities, noting that the Infantry Corps is a primary beneficiary of the College’s training, as the majority of officers trained there are from the Infantry.

In a similar development, the Commandant of MLAILPKC, Major General DG Allu, stated that his visit was to formally introduce himself after assuming office. He thanked the CIC for the warm reception and promised to uphold the historical cooperation between the Centre and the Corps.

Major General Allu remarked on his deep familiarity with the Jaji Military Cantonment, noting that this marks his fifth tour of duty in the location. He reaffirmed his readiness to cooperate in all initiatives that enhance the progress and security of the Cantonment.

The CIC thanked both Commandants for their visits and pledged to continue working with all stakeholders to ensure sustained peace within the Cantonment. He specifically commended MLAILPKC for its role in training peacekeepers to bolster global peace and security.

The visits were attended by the Chief of Staff of Headquarters Infantry Corps Centre, Directors, Departmental Heads, and other senior officers.
