Commander NATRAC Extols RSM and Other Discharging Senior Non-Commissioned Officers As He Bids Them Farewell From Service

It was an atmosphere of happiness and joy as the Commander Nigerian Army Training Center(NATRAC)Kontagora, Major General John Omolaja Sokoya today 7 October 2025 send forth Regimental Sergeant Major (RSM) and 3 other Senior Non Commission Officers(SNCOS)of the Center. The soldiers are proceeding to the Armed Forces Resettlement Center Oshodi Lagos, after meritoriously serving the Nigerian Army for about 35 years.

In his remarks the Commander NATRAC Major General John Sokoya was filled with praise and commendation for the RSM and the other discharging soldiers for their commitment, loyalty and high level discipline displayed during their service to the Nigerian Army and the Nigerian Army Training Center in particular. He thanked God for keeping their lives and the lives of their family members throughout the period of their engagement. He further expressed happiness that they are discharging in good health to enjoy their retirement benefits which is the prayer of every serving military personnel. He urged them to remain disciplined and role models after their service as they may be required to give their inputs whenever called upon. He stated that with their wealth of experience during their service they will be useful to serve their fatherland in other capacities.

Earlier while giving his opening remarks, the Chief of Staff, NATRAC, Brigadier General Anthony Ozemhoya thanked the discharging soldiers for their honour, distinction, and unwavering commitment for about 35 years. He said throughout their career, they have demonstrated exceptional leadership, professionalism and the deep understanding of the welfare and development of their subordinates. Their influence have been felt throughout the ranks and their legacy will be remembered for years to come.

In his vote of thanks the outgoing RSM, Army Warrant Officer Patrick Aboho on behalf of his colleagues thanked God Almighty for keeping them alive to see the end of their career. He equally thanked the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede for his visionary leadership and developing initiatives which they are proud to be beneficiaries. He thanked the Commander NATRAC, officers, soldiers and the entire barrack community for their cooperation and support during his tenure as the RSM of the center.

The occasion was very colourful and eventful with, cultural displays by cultural troupes representing, Tiv, South-south, Hausa and Yoruba dances who performed to the delight of everyone present.

The event was well attended as witnessed by guests from sister security agencies, the Nigeria Police Force, Immigration, Correctional Service, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps and the Federal Road Saftey Corps. Also in attendance was the Chief of Staff Headquarters Nigeria Army Corps of Artillery Brigedier General Emmanuel Egbe who represented the Commander Corps of Artillery, Principal Staff Officers of NATRAC, Commanding Officers, soldiers and their family members as well as corps members serving in NATRAC.

Highlights of the occasion was the cultural display, sentry drill demonstration and tug of war display. There was also presentation of gifts in and certificates of commendation to the retiring soldiers and group photographs to bring the occasion to an end.
