
Commander NATRAC Graduates Troops Of Pre-Deployment Training Batch 1
The Commander Nigerian Army Training Center(NATRAC)Major General AGL Haruna earlier today graduated troops of Pre-Deployment Training from NATRAC at the Kontagora Military Cantonment Parade Ground. The troops who reported to the Centre on 12 January 2026 underwent a rigorous 4 weeks mission-specific Counter Terrorism and Counter Insurgency training.
In his address the Commander stated that a total number of 589 soldiers were generated for the Phase One of the Nigerian Army Rotation Plan 2026 in Joint Task Force(Northeast) Operation Hadin Kai Theatre. He further stated that the training which was both day and night, involved physical fitness building, close quarter marksmanship, obstacle crossing, convoy drills, counter ambush drills, house clearance, patrols and tactical medical evacuation. Others included ground sign awareness, counter Improvised Explosive Devices training, mountain warfare, base camp security, communication and hostage rescue.
The Commander stated that the training reflected realism in order to enable trainees combat contemporary security threats in line with the Command Philosophy of the Chief of Army Staff which is “To Advance the Transformation of the Nigerian Army into a more Professional, Adaptable, Combat Ready and Resilient Force Capable of Decisively Discharging its Constitutional Responsibilities within a Joint and Multi-Agency Environment.”
Major General Haruna expressed confidence that the period spent on the training has exposed the trainees to new tactics, techniques and procedures which has prepared them for the task ahead wherever they are deployed. He urged them to keep alive the training acquired so that when the situation arises, they will give a good account of themselves. He congratulated them and charged them to display courage, resilience and gallantry in confronting the adversary. He equally urged the trainees to march forward together to defeat the enemies of our dear Country Nigeria.
The Commander, thanked the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General W Shaibu for his unwavering support and strategic guidance to the Centre. He also thanked officers and instructors for their dedication and commitment during the training. Highlights of the ceremony was the unarmed combat display and tug of war by trainees to the cheering of everyone and group photographs to bring the ceremony to a close.
