Commander NATRAC Inaugurates Troops For Pre-Deployment Training Batch 1, Charges Them To Remain Discipline

The Commander Nigerian Army Training Centre (NATRAC), Major General Abubakar Garba Lawal Haruna today 16 January 2026 inaugurated troops for Pre-deployment Training(PDT) Batch 1 at the Kontagora Military Cantonment Parade Ground. The PDT is aimed to rotate overstayed troops in Joint Task Force (Nort East) Operation HADIN KAI Theatre.

In his inaugural address, the Commander, stated that the PDT which is the first edition for the year 2026 is aimed at training the troops on Counter Terrorism and Counter Insurgency Operations which are mission-specific. He added that, the training is scheduled to run for a period of 4 weeks from 12 January to 6 February and will dwell on aspects of Special warfare training which includes, battle drills, survival training, ground sign awareness, mountain warfare, convoy drills, marksmanship, base camp security and counter ambush among others.

He furhter stated that the best form of welfare for the troops, is first class training. The Commander said training is part of deliberate efforts aimed at enhancing troops capacity in line with the Command Philosophy of the Chief of Army Staff which is ” To advance the transformation of the Nigerian Army into a more professional, adaptable, combat ready and resilient force capable of decisively discharging its constitutional responsibilities within a joint and multi-agency environment”.

General Haruna assured the trainees that everything has been put in place in the Centre to ensure a hitch free training and warned that no form of indiscipline will be tolerated as defaulters will be sanctioned appropriately.

The Commander thanked the Chief of Army Staff for his unwavering support and strategic guidance to the Centre and urged trainees to give their best and give a good account of themselves. He also urged Staff and Instructors to give their best in order to achieve the objective of the training. Highlights of the Inauguration was the three hearty cheers and group photographs to bring the occasion to a close.
