
Commander NATRAC Inaugurates Troops Of Pre-Deployment Training Batch 2, Harping On Discipline
The Commander Nigerian Army Training Centre(NATRAC) Major General AGL Haruna today 23 February 2026 inaugurated the Batch 2 of troops of Pre-Deployment Training(PDT)2026 at the Kontagora Military Cantonment.
The Commander in his Inaugural address stated that the PDT for Batch 2 is scheduled to run for a period of 4 weeks and will dwell on aspects of special warfare training to include battle drills, survival training, ground sign awareness, mountain warfare, convoy drills, marksmanship, base camp security and counter ambush drills among others.
He stated that the best form of welfare for troops is first class training. He stated that their training here in NATRAC is part of deliberate efforts at enhancing their capacity to perform professionally in line with the Command Philosophy of the Chief of Army Staff, which is “To advance the transformation of the Nigerian Army into a more professional, adaptable,combat ready and resilient force capable of decisively discharging its constitutional responsibilities within a joint and multi-agency environment”. He further stated that training and re-retraining assists the Army to be ready and readily available to deal with contemporary challenges with less fuss.
He added that the Centre has made adequate arrangements through provision of basic infrastructure as well as a well-structured training programme to ensure robust training experience. He however warned that no form of indiscipline will be tolerated as defaulters will be sanctioned appropriately. He admonished the troops to ensure proper maintenance of all resources and facilities made available to them.
The Commander thanked the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General W Shaibu for his continued support and strategic guidance to the Centre. He also thanked his principal Staff Officers, instructors and other members of the NATRAC family for their dedication and commitment to the trainees well-being. Highlights of the ceremony was the three hearty cheers and group photographs to bring the event to an end.
