
Commander Nigerian Army Women Command Undertakes Familiarization Visits To NAHFC and NAOWA
The Commander Nigerian Army Women Command (NAWC), Brigadier General MS Adamu, as part of his familiarization visits since assumption of command on 29 January 2026, paid courtesy visits to the Nigerian Army Heritage and Future Centre (NAHFC) and subsequently to the Nigerian Army Officers Wives Association (NAOWA) on Tuesday, 10 February 2026, in Abuja.
Brigadier General Adamu with members of his entourage was warmly received by Major General TE Gagariga and Senior Officers of the Centre. In his remarks, the Commander NAWC commended the Director General and his team for their commitment to preserving the Nigerian Army’s heritage and institutional memory. He emphasized the importance of history and tradition in fostering professionalism, esprit de corps and pride among serving personnel, particularly women in the Nigerian Army.
In his response, Major General Gagariga appreciated the visit stating that the courtesy call is a way of inculcating regimentation to junior officers. He further emphasized on the need for the female personnel to abide by the NA policy on the use of social media. He then reaffirmed NAHFC’s readiness to collaborate with the NAWC in promoting historical awareness, leadership development and national pride, describing the Centre as a bridge between the Army’s past, present and future.
Following the visit to NAHFC, the Commander NAWC paid a maiden familiarization visit to the President, Nigerian Army Officers Wives Association (NAOWA), Mrs Safiyyah Hassan Shaibu. The visit was aimed at fostering cordial relations and strengthening cooperation, particularly in the areas of activities involving women, empowerment and support for female personnel.
Brigadier General Adamu expressed appreciation for NAOWA’s continuous support to female personnel and underscored the importance of synergy between NAWC and NAOWA in promoting unity, morale and a supportive environment. In her response, the NAOWA President commended the Commander NAWC and reaffirmed NAOWA’s commitment to partnering with NAWC on welfare and empowerment initiatives.
Both visits concluded with the exchange of souvenirs and group photographs.
