Commander Operation Whirl Stroke Visits Frontline Troops, Assures Communities Of Military’s Readiness To Confront Security Threats

In a determined effort to enhance joint operational cohesion and foster stronger civil-military cooperation, the Force Commander Joint Task Force Operation WHIRL STROKE (OPWS), Major General Moses Gara has conducted operational tour of remote communities in Taraba State. The visit included engagements with key stakeholders and inspection of frontline troop deployments under Sector 3 OPWS.

As part of the tour, Major General Gara paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Governor of Taraba State, His Excellency Dr. Agbu Kefas. During the visit, the Force Commander extended heartfelt condolence to the governor and expressed sympathy to the people of Karim Lamido Local Government Area over the recent farmer-herder conflict that resulted in the tragic loss of lives and property.

Reiterating OPWS’s unwavering commitment to restoring and sustaining peace across Taraba State, Major General Gara commended the State Government for its support to the military. He noted that the support would significantly enhance the operation’s tactical presence and improve rapid response to emerging threats in the region.

In his remarks, Givernor Kefas lauded the dedication, professionalism and sacrifices of troops of OPWS under the Command of Maj Gen Moses Gara. He reaffirmed the State Government’s unwavering support for the Joint Task Force in its continued efforts to combat banditry, intercommunal violence and other forms of insecurity in the state.

Earlier, Major General Gara visited several key troop locations within Sector 3, including Zaki-Biam and Wukari, where he was briefed by the Sector 3Commander, Brigadier General Kingsley Uwa on the current operational dynamics of the area.

The operational tour also included a visit to the OPWS Boat Company to asses the combat readiness of the personnel deployed to safeguard riverine communities.

Addressing troops at various locations, the Force Commander commended their courage, professionalism and unwavering dedication in confronting security challenges. He urged them to maintain high levels of discipline and operational focus and assured them of the leadership’s firm resolve to address their welfare and logistical needs to further boost mission effectiveness.

The Commander’s visit served as a strong morale booster for the troops, who welcomed his presence and appreciated his personal commitment to their welfare and operational success.
