Commander TRADOC Nigerian Army Urges Members Of Examination Panel For The Lieutenant To Captain Practical Promotion Exam To Uphold Integrity and Professionalism

The Commander Training and Doctrine Command Nigerian Army (TRADOC NA), Major General Peter Malla, on Sunday, 1 February 2026, flagged off activities kick-starting the Year 2026 Lieutenant to Captain Practical Promotion Examination (LCPPE) in Abeokuta, Ogun State. The Commander, in his address, welcomed members of the Examination Panel and other stakeholders, and urged them to discharge their duties with the highest sense of integrity, professionalism and objectivity, noting that the credibility of the examination depends largely on their conduct. He reiterated the need for members of the Examination Panel to shun any act that would undermine the sanctity of the examination. He also emphasized the need for members to ensure that the requirements are in tandem with the current security challenges being faced by troops in the frontline. The Commander further enjoined the Panel to adhere strictly to the Nigerian Army Charter for Promotion Examinations Revised 2022, particularly in the areas of examination settings, conduct, assessment and security.

Major General Malla also expressed his profound appreciation to the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) for the morale-boosting and unwavering support towards the successful conduct of the examination, noting that the support provided was instrumental to commencement of the exercise and the assembly of personnel in Abeokuta.

Earlier in his Opening Remarks, the Commander 35 Artillery Brigade, Brigadier General Goodwin Nwamba, speaking on behalf of the General Officer Commanding 81 Division Nigerian Army, Major General Adebayo Babalola, welcomed the Examination President, teams from Army Headquarters Department of Army Training, TRADOC NA, observers and Members of the Examination Panel to 35 Artillery Brigade, Alamala Barracks, Abeokuta. He highlighted the importance of the examination and urged members of the Examination Panel to come up with practical and innovative problem-solving questions. He assured participants of adequate security and administrative arrangements by 35 Artillery Brigade, to ensure a conducive environment for the exercise.

Activities lined up for the LCPPE 2026 include the Setting of Examination Requirements and Directing Staff Solutions, Harmonization of Examination Requirements and Directing Staff Solutions. Others are actual conduct of the practical examinations, and assessment of candidates, that would culminate in the announcement of results, in line with extant Nigerian Army regulations.
