Commissioning Ceremony Of Chief Of Naval Staff Special Intervention Quick Impact Project In Ikenne
On Friday, 31 October 2025, the Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, commissioned the Ikenne Security Coordination Centre (ISCC) — a Quick Impact Project (QIP) facilitated by Rear Admiral Abolaji Orederu (rtd) at Ikenne Remo, Ogun State. The Chief of the Naval Staff was represented by the erstwhile Flag Officer Commanding Western Naval Command, Rear Admiral Mike Oamen (rtd). The project aligns with the Nigerian Navy’s drive to enhance community security and foster civil-military cooperation through impactful grassroots initiatives.
The Ikenne Security Coordination Centre is a strategic response to the growing need for improved local security surveillance. The facility provides real-time monitoring and live coverage of the town’s activities through several surveillance base stations equipped with high-resolution cameras powered by solar energy.
Data from the cameras are transmitted to a central control room, which is sustained by a 10KVA inverter to ensure round-the-clock operations. The ISCC will be operated by trained young professionals, ensuring sustainability and community ownership.
The event was graced by the Chairman, Senate Committee on Navy, Senator Gbenga Daniel, who served as the Father of the Day, alongside representatives of the Ogun State Governor, AIG Subair (Rtd), Senator Ibikunle Amosun, and the Director General, IMION, among others. Distinguished sons and daughters of Ikenne, including Otunba Femi Allen, Engr Bolaji Adebajo, Mr Kunle Soname, Otunba Sola Odumosu, and Major General Soboiki, were also in attendance. The commissioning of the ISCC stands as another testament to the Chief of the Naval Staff’s Quick Impact Projects, promoting security, youth empowerment, and partnership between the Nigerian Navy and host communities.
