
Commissioning Ceremony Of The Chief Of The Naval Staff Special Intervention Quick Impact Project For Handicapped Children In Kano State
On Tuesday 25 February 2025, a newly constructed hostel block for handicapped children in Torrey Home at Tudun Maliki, Kano State was commissioned. The hostel block came with solar powered lights and a borehole. The commissioning came under the auspices of the Chief of the Naval Staff Special Intervention Quick Impact Project (CNS- QIP). The CNS-QIP was initiated by the CNS, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla to undertake projects that will improve the Navy’s Civil Military Cooperation (CIMIC) efforts nationwide. This particular project was facilitated by Rear Admiral Idi Abbas to give back to his community and improve the lives of handicapped children. The hostel comprises 4 rooms with toilets and bathrooms, a matron’s room and a borehole.
In his remarks, the CNS who was represented by the Director CIMIC, Rear Admiral MK Igwe emphasised that traditionally, and indeed globally, CIMIC encompasses activities and interactions between the military and civil society towards the accomplishment of missions and military strategic objectives. He also stated that the CNS-QIP mandate was in line with Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The newly built hostel marks a new dawn for the handicapped children who expressed gratitude to Rear Admiral Abbas & the Chief of the Naval Staff.
